OVERALL APPEARANCE:
Jonathan is moderately tall with coal black hair slightly shaggy around the back of his neck and ears. After all, he hasn’t had a proper haircut in weeks. His dark blue eyes are rather hard and impassable and it is difficult to tell what he is thinking, even for Mira. He has a strong chin and a Roman nose that seems to be his most prominent feature until one notices his eyes. He is rather built and usually wears a long-sleeved white linen shirt with a grey tunic, black pants and boots.

STRENGTHS: Persistent, clever, smart, strong, and sneaky (is that a good thing? Yes.)
WEAKNESSES: A tad vain, spoiled (slightly), sarcastic, cynical, and can be very unkind.
LIKES: People who do as he says, reading, good jokes, frankness, and good company.
DISLIKES: Mira, flightiness, cynicism, sarcasm, and actresses (pretty much everything that Mira is)
FEARS: Rejection, having his pride injured, poverty, disownment, and war
QUIRKS: When he’s overly stressed or worried, he will run his hands through his hair, he has issues sleeping, and is haunted by a family curse.
PERSONALITY:
Jonathan was born to a wealthy family. He had a childhood where he shortly possessed anything he asked for and this reflects on his present character. He retains parts of the spoiled child he was and, as a result of being constantly praised as a child, is a tad vain.
He is also cynical and sarcastic. Ironically these are two traits that he despises in other people. He was given a good education and has become a very clever extortionist. He cannot imagine a life without an abundance of wealth. When Mira escaped their impending engagement, his father threatened him with disownment and poverty if Jonathan could not bring her back. So, although he detests Mira to infinity, he is forced to find her and bring her back.
Regarding the curse on his family (see bio.), Jonathan does not believe that it exists. He is a man of “science” and has already predetermined that there is a logical explanation to everything.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born to a life luxury, Jonathan grew up in an ancient manor house located in a large estate of rolling green fields. Denied little as a child, he soon grew up to believe that he could have anything he wanted. His father Charles who was desperate to counteract the curse on his wife’s family was willing to do anything to wed Jonathan off before he turned 21. Mira’s escape has made things difficult.
The curse on Irene Essex’s family, passed onto Jonathan, states that unless the oldest son of each generation weds before his 21st birthday, the Pembrokes had all who are related or involved with them, will be swept down into the abyss to linger in darkness forever. Charles Essex is a very superstitious man, and so was determined to wed Jonathan off as soon as possible. However, because of the well-known curse, very few families, despite the Essex fortune, were willing to be linked to the cursed Pembroke lineage. Mira was the only reputable candidate and so a betrothal was arranged.
Jonathan was not happy, but his father threatened to disown him and divorce Irene so that he could “escape” the Pembroke Doom, so Jonathan agreed to go through with the wedding. When Mira escaped, her fiancée was secretly pleased, but he was then ordered to go after flighty Mira by his father.
